Dumbolio
is a once-a-month olio performed in the powerHouse Arena, in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Each edition of Dumbolio is hosted by Ed Schmidt
and features a musical headliner and four or five supporting acts.
Dumbolio is the brainchild of Ed Schmidt, who
wrote and performed The Last Supper for two years in his New York City kitchen. Read his astounding, inspirational
bio
, if you dare.
PowerHouse Arena, located within the street-level exhibition and retail space of powerHouse Books,
at 37 Main Street, is an unconventionally configured, totally alive room. Two walls of floor-to-ceiling glass look out on
Main and Water Streets. The Arena seats about 150 and stands a few hundred more. The idiosyncrasies of the Arena perfectly
fit the spirit of Dumbolio, where the line between stage and audience is blurred and fluid, ensuring that performer and audience
are always aware of each other.
